What is Keep Freedom Unlocked?
Keep Freedom Unlocked is a campaign dedicated to educating people about the freedoms won after the revolutions of 1989 and the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Keep Freedom Unlocked is supported by the Democracy Council – a global organisation advocating for freedom, human rights, equal opportunities and public participation.
What does the Democracy Council do?
- Works with civil organisations to push for human rights and democracy in some of the most repressive environments in the world
- Fights for cyber security and internet freedom, so that people can freely access information without incrimination, censorship or retribution
- Offers election observation and monitoring to developing democracies to promote transparent, free and fair elections
- Supports independent media projects within closed societies, providing support for press freedom worldwide
- Provides grassroots organisations around the world with the tools and resources they need to safely fight for LGBT equality
- Promotes and support the rule of law in some of the world’s most repressive places
